Must plan on majoring in a course of study that focuses on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math); show academic achievement; financial need; participation and leadership in community and school activities. Special consideration for first-generation college students, female, or minority. 1000 @ $2000 for four years; 100 @ $25,000 per year for four years.
These awards are for students whose parents or guardians have been or are incarcerated. The fund was established by Karl Winsness, who spent years in prison and knows the impact that can have on young people and their dreams.
Choose from one of eight essay prompts, must be between 500-800 words. Awarding one $5,000 scholarship and three $1,000 scholarships, payable to the college of your choice.
This scholarship was developed in 2008 to assist high school and college freshman students who are interested in pursuing a career in medicine. Personal qualities, financial need, academic and extracurricular achievement, and ability to attend the Annual LMSA West Regional Conference will be considered in the selection process. Dr. Amanda Perez is an alumna of LMSA-West at the Charles Drew University Chapter, where she served as Medical Student Representative. She later was in charge of the Scholarship Program when she served on the Executive Board for the Western Region. Award recipients will have the chance to meet Dr. Amanda Perez at the LMSA West conference.
Submit a video (2 minutes or less) that tells us the sotry of your life's passion. It could be a short film, animation, or just a simple testimonial. This is not about how well you can make a film--we just want you to show us your passion and explain why you should be considered for a Live Mas Scholarship. Must be:
- legal resident of the U.S.
- between 16-24 years old
Applicants will be judged on having shown compassion, courage, and a strong commitment to promoting a peaceful world through a vegetarian diet/lifestyle. 1 @ $10,000 and 2 @ $5000
Parents and/or legal guardians of the students applying must have, or had, a career in the financial services industry. Selection criteria: academic record and GPA (minimum 3.5); high school activities and demonstrated leadership; ACT score; responses to questions on the application form; demonstrated financial need. Awards depend on financial need.
Create a poster that includes the words, “You Can Make a Difference” and illustrate the idea that one person can change the world for the better. Judged on overall impact, effectiveness in conveying the theme, originality and artistic merit. 1@ $1000; 1@ $500; 1@ $250; 5 @$100.
Describe how Alzheimer's disease changed or impacted your life. Whether you've had a loved one with the disease, volunteered or worked as a caretaker, or are just passionate about the cause. The grand prize is $5,000, with $2,500, $1,500, $1,000, $750, and $500 runners-up awards.
This scholarship is for $750 to the winner's college of choice.
