The David Gourley Scholarship Fund has been set up through contributions by family, friends and associates of David Gourley, former superintendent of Granite School District (1944-1957). This scholarship is for one year only and will be awarded to a successful graduating student from the Granite School District.
We encourage graduating students from all areas of study to apply for this scholarship. Each high school is allowed to nominate one student to represent their school for this award.
Need, character and academics are the standards used by the committee during the selection process. Candidates will be interviewed and the successful recipient for the award notified. The scholarship amount will be determined by the David Gourley Scholarship Committee at its annual meeting. Historically, it has been $1,000 - $1,500. A check will be issued directly to the student for continuing education and can be used to pay for tuition, books, or other educational expenses.
Each applicant must submit a completed packet to the Business Services office by 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2016. The following information must be included:
b. one letter from a community member or employer touching on character
c. one letter from a school counselor or teacher touching on academics
Incomplete applications will not be considered.
